Di sektor layar sendiri memang mengalami peningkatan dan kini berukuran 4.8 inci dengan resolusi qHD 960x540 piksel kerapatan 299 ppi dan sayangnya masih tetap menggunakan jenis TFT. Selain itu juga di sektor hardware sudah dibekali Qualcomm MSM8926 Snapdragon 400 Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 dibarengi GPU Adreno 305 dan RAM sebesar 1 GB. Walaupun sistem operasinya belum KitKat seperti Sony Xperia Z2, namun Sony Xperia M2 sudah menggunakan Android 4.3 Jelly Bean dan akan segera mendapat update Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
